Vis-à-Vis
12”x 12” Original two layer relief woodcut prints.
Because each piece is inked and printed by hand, there are due to be slight variations.
Relief Printing is a process where the matrix is made subtractively by carving away material from the surface of a wood block or linoleum in areas not intended to be printed. The remaining surface would then receive ink and print a mirror image of the carving.
For this two layer relief, the wooden block was carved on both sides, one side to print the red and then one side to print the black. The third color present, the white, is from the paper.
