“Painting is easy when you don’t know how, but very difficult when you do.”
– Edgar Degas
Meet The Artist
Laura Morgan was born in Houston, Texas and moved to San Diego, California at the age of 5. There, her passion for horse riding was ignited, and she competed as a hunter/jumper from the age of 10 onwards. Besides horses, she also grew up with multiple dogs, and has always been very passionate about animals.
At the age of 18, Laura went to college planning to major in Pre-Med Biology in order to pursue a career in veterinary sciences, but her mental health got in the way and she was forced to drop out of college after only a few months.
After a few years of focusing on treating her mental health, Laura decided to go back to school to study another area of passion—art. She graduated with her BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute in 2019 with a Painting major and a Printmaking minor.
Due to her past experiences, Laura is not afraid to confront her vulnerability within her work, and is heavily inspired by strong women in the world and in mythology. Her main mediums are oil paint, watercolor, charcoal/graphite and digital painting.
Today, she currently lives in San Diego with her two cats where she continues to pursue her passion of animals through her passion of art.
